MAUD CRUTTWELL

Maud Cruttwell was an English art historian born in Frome in 1859. She lived in Florence and became a friend of Bernard and Mary Berenson, as well as with other members of the Anglo-American comunity in the city. She published books on several Italian artists, among others Luca Signorelli, Mantegna, and Pollaiolo, while she studied extensively Luca and Andrea della Robbia and their successors. She died in Paris in 1939.

Her papers contain one box of letters written by Maud Cruttwell to Lady Ottoline Morrell, from 1899 to 1913. They also include two texts: a manuscript titled Prato and a typescript titled History of Behaism.
