Main Library Public Hours
Due to major construction work scheduled to take place this summer, the Berenson Library will close at 6.00pm on Friday, 16 June 2017 and reopen for service on Monday, 4 September 2017 at 9.00am. Please contact us with any questions by clicking here.
Monday through Friday, 9:00 a.m. to 6:00 p.m. Requests for retrieval of materials from limited access areas may be made only until 5:45 p.m.
Please note that the library is closed to the public during the month of August, on Italian national and local holidays, and around the winter holidays.

Public services desk staffed hours
Monday through Friday, 10:00 a.m. to 1 p.m.; 2 p.m. to 5 p.m.
Hours of Ahmanson Reading Room for Special Collections
Monday through Friday, 10:00 a.m. to 1 p.m.; 2 p.m. to 5:45 p.m.
By prior arrangement only, it may be possible to arrange longer consultation hours for researchers visiting Florence specifically to use the Library's special collections.
I Tatti Appointees
Daily from 8:00 a.m. to 12:00 midnight.
- Spouses or companions of current appointees may register as readers and use the library during public hours. Those who are also scholars and would like extended hours should make a request to the Head Librarian.
- Appointees’ guests are not permitted in the library outside of public hours.
- Former appointees must request a keycard from the Security staff in order to use the library outside of public hours.
