2017 Bernard Berenson Lecture Series launches on January 26

The 2017 Bernard Berenson Lectures on the Italian Renaissance, delivered by Victor I. Stoichita, began on January 26 with Giotto:The Eye and the Gaze—an exploration of the power of the gaze motif and its roots in the Arena Chapel in Padua.

The series continues with lectures on February 16 (Faces and Shields) and March 23 (The Second Skin). Lectures are in Italian and begin at 6.00pm. No registration is required.

Established in 2006, the Berenson Lecture Series brings prominent and esteemed scholars of Italian Renaissance art, politics, religion, science, philosophy, and literature to the Harvard Center to present some of the most significant and current issues in their respective fields. The lectures are subsequently published by Harvard University Press as the series The Bernard Berenson Lectures on the Italian Renaissance Delivered at Villa I Tatti.
