International Conference: "The Persistence of Petrarch: Translation and Reception in a Global Perspective."

This conference will explore the reception of Petrarch’s Canzoniere as it has been translated and received both across the centuries, and across the globe. Building on the work being done by an international research project, Petrarch in Global Translation, scholars from twelve different countries will reflect on the history of Petrarchism in particular, and love poetry more broadly, within their literary tradition. The panels focused on global Petrarch will be complemented with a final session on Petrarch’s role in contemporary Italian poetry.
