Ariosto and the Arabs

Ariosto and the Arabs was the first exploratory seminar of the 2016 calendar, held on February 16 and organised by former I Tatti Fellows Mario Casari, Monica Preti, and Michael Wyatt. The seminar addressed the complex but still largely unexplored question of the relationship of the Orlando furioso to the worlds of Islam, opening up new perspectives on the disparate worlds and conflicts that Ariosto imaginatively reconstructed in his great poem.
