Launched at the Basilica of San Lorenzo on June 14, this comprehensive, interdisciplinary collection of essays illuminates many previously unexplored aspects of the church's history, extending from its Early Christian foundation to the modern era.
The idea for the collection originated nearly a decade ago during a discussion between editors Robert W. Gaston and Louis A. Waldman and I Tatti's then-Director Joseph Connors, with the San Lorenzo Project taking shape over the following years. The presentation held by the church was followed by a concert, while I Tatti celebrated the successful conclusion of the project with a reception for all contributors on June 13. The images below are by I Tatti's photographer Gianni Trambusti, whose photography features extensively in the book.
