Project Summary

Patronage of the Mendicant Orders in the Montefeltro was one of the main phenomena in the artistic developments of that area during the XIVth century. The counts of Urbino, deeply connected with the Franciscan Order, favoured such commissions. This project focuses on the genesis of the most relevant works in Urbino and the main towns of the region, together with the role of the patrons.
