Biography

Named Gramophone Award Young Artist of 2016, Benjamin Appl was a member of the BBC New Generation Artist scheme from 2014-16, as well as a Wigmore Hall Emerging Artist and ECHO Rising Star for the 2015-16 season. He signed exclusively to SONY Classical in 2016. Starting as a chorister in Regensburg, he studied first in Munich and graduated at Guildhall School of Music & Drama in London. An established recitalist, he has performed at most of the important festivals and recital series and also worked with leading orchestras and conductors. At New York´s Park Avenue Armory he sang all three Schubert cycles and with the Philadephia Orchestra Bach’s Mass in B Minor, Yannick Nézet-Séguin conducting.
