Caitlin Henningsen is a doctoral candidate in the History of Art and Architecture at Harvard University. She completed her undergraduate studies in art history at Wesleyan University. Her dissertation on late Renaissance painting on stone seeks to build on recent scholarship characterized by attention to medium and material agency by harnessing contemporary ideas about the nature, properties, and power of stones. She looks forward to immersing herself at I Tatti in the study of classical and Renaissance lapidaries and natural historical texts.
