Biography

Miguel Taín Guzmán is Associate Professor of Art History at Santiago de Compostela University. His research interests revolve around Spanish Baroque art and architecture and its Italian links. His most recent monograph is La ciudad de Santiago de Compostela en 1669. La peregrinación del gran príncipe de la Toscana Cosimo III de Medici (The City of Santiago de Compostela in 1669. The pilgrimage of the Grand Prince of Tuscany Cosimo III of Medici), published in Spanish in 2012, with support from the Kunsthistorisches Institut of Florence in 2010 and 2011.


Project Summary

Study of the Italian paintings, tapestries and sculptures in the Spanish Royal Palaces visited by Prince Cosimo III de Medici in 1668. I propose to analyze five travel diaries by five different authors, several versions of each one, letters and other kind of documents with mentions about these masterpieces.
