Paolo Galluzzi, together with Filippo Camerota, Alessandra Lenzi and Iolanda Rolfo, will present some recently completed projects in the digital humanities at the Museo Galileo in Florence:
1. An unified search access for the Library, Archive, Museum and research data;
2. The web edition of Martin Waldseemüller Cosmographia (1507); and
3. The Galileo//thek@: an integrated archive of Galilean resources.
All are invited to the presentation, followed by discussion.
Paolo Galluzzi is director of the Museo Galileo, Istituto e Museo di Storia della Scienza. He was full professor in the History of Science first at the University of Siena, then at the University of Florence, and has been Visiting Professor at Harvard University and numerous other institutions in Europe and the US. The author of over 200 publications, his research focuses on Leonardo and Renaissance engineers, on Galileo and his school, on scientific academies in the Early Modern period, and on the relationship between art and science. The curator of many exhibition in Europe, North America, and Asia, Professor Galluzzi has created and edited several major books series and journals dedicated to the history of science. In 2014, he presented the Berenson lectures at I Tatti on "Machinae pictae”. Idea e immagini delle macchine nel Rinascimento, and is currently preparing these for publication.
