Biography
Marco Simone Bolzoni received his Ph.D. from the University of Naples Federico II. His interest and expertise focus on the materials, styles, and functions of Italian Renaissance and Baroque Drawings. He is the author of Il Cavalier Giuseppe Cesari d’Arpino: maestro del disegno and has published extensively in Paragone, Ricerche di Storia dell’Arte, ArtItalies, and several exhibition catalogues. He was a fellow at the Fondazione Longhi in Florence (2008), the Frick Art Reference Library – Center for the History of Collecting (2013) and the Drawing Institute - The Morgan Library & Museum (2014).
Project Summary
Federico Zuccaro was one of the most successful painters working in Rome during the late Renaissance, and travelled extensively in Italy, France, the Flanders, England and Spain. The project will analyse Zuccaro’s travel drawings which consist of drawings from life, portraits, landscape and copies of other artists’ works of art.
