Biography
The Spanish Ministry of Innovation and Science has awarded Raúl González Arévalo a “Ramón y Cajal” research contract at the University of Granada (Spain, 2012-2016) to develop the project “Italian Differential Presence in the South of the Iberian Peninsula in the Age of the Trastamara (XIVth-XVIth centuries)”. Previously, he received a predoctoral fellowship to study slavery and captivity in the Kingdom of Grenade at the end of the Middle Ages (2000-2003), and then a postdoctoral fellowship (2005-2007) to carry out the project “Andalusia, the Kingdom of Granada and Florence in the XVth Century”. This research activity has resulted in three monographies and several articles in Spanish and international reviews, congress papers and book chapters.
Project Summary
This project intends to deepen in the knowledge of the relationship between the Crown of Castile, the Nasri Kingdom of Grenade and the Italian Renaissance States, focusing in the Republic of Florence and stressing the importance of diplomacy to emphasize the existing economic and social relations.
