Exhibit highlights Berenson's Cinquecentine

During the span of his lifetime Bernard Berenson collected a noteworthy selection of books printed in the 16th century. Among these 120 titles some major areas of interest will be presented with this exhibition. Berenson, in fact, had a special interest in authors associated with the Florentine Academy and in their educational aims. The exhibit illustrates Berenson’s favorite authors from the Accademia Fiorentina, their championing of vernacular learning, and the diffusion of 16th century vernacular art theory. The exhibition, entitled "Bernard Berenson's Cinquecentine : the library of a Florentine Academician," is curated by Angela Dressen.  It will be on display from 1 September to 30 December, 2015.

Please note that Berenson Library exhibits are open only to library patrons and not to the general public.
